An Interesting Few Days

It’s been an interesting few days, starting on Tuesday night.
I want to thank London EMS as well as Dr. Tang and the rest of the Cardiac Care Unit at LHSC Victoria Hospital

First of all and I was told several times, I did the right thing when I got chest pains and very bad sweats, I called 911. After some assessments, I was told I had experienced a small heart attack.

In the end, they discovered a blocked valve in the heart and inserted two stents to bypass it. This was all done in the space of 14 hours. The procedure is done in a surgical bay that looks like the bridge of the USS Enterprise.
You are also awake during the procedure, and the surgical team took the time to explain what they are doing. They put a probe up your arm from the wrist you can see it via a display (and feel it going in your arm and shoulder.

After that, there is an overnight stay while they do more tests to make sure everything is ok. I was discharged Thursday midday.

I have to take it easy for a few days and not lift anything heavy and I can’t drive for a month. So I’ll be working from home for the next month. And obviously, some lifestyle changes will be happening.

People may criticize the health care system and there are issues but for the people in the field, it does work. The front-line staff do what they can despite the challenges.
