As I write this it’s 3am and a line of severe thunderstorms with rain and a very intense lightshow has just moved through the area. As the storm started to build, the local London twitter community took to talking about the storm and what effects it was having in their neighbourhoods.
Carmi Levy started things off with;

From some amazing pictures to folks asking questions it was great to see a natural community form during this storm. Just like having neighbours to call, the local twitter community is an example of a group ‘watching’ out for each other.
Andrew Kaszowski summed it up best in this tweet.

I agree it’s nice to have folks watching out for each other.
It seems every day we discover new ways to use these tools. Last night was no different, and as I watch the morning break under grey skies and plodding rain, I can’t help but smile as I recall how a bunch of folks turned an overnight storm into a community event.
I wonder what the next discovery will bring. Whatever it is, I know we’ll get to figure it out en masse. That’s beyond neat.
Great Zeus! 3:00 AM?? Turn off the electric boxes and go to sleep! One more reason why I say far, far away from the electrical noise of “social media!”
