This week I’m helping out of the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships being held in my hometown of London Ontario. In particularly I’ve been helping the worlds media get their laptops setup to connect to wireless network that has been setup for the event. For the geeks among you I can say this is some serious heavy duty networking going on particularly on the wireless side of things. All media these days comes with a laptop and photographers have laptops and their cameras.
For all this planning the main issue we have encountered is some folks did not bring international power adapters. Fortunately a local store is only a few short blocks away who have been able to help.
This serves to remind us to spend a few minutes making sure that you have everything you need to keep your tech going while you are away from your home or office. Last night I made sure my laptop and phone were charged. I keep a separate power supply for the laptop in my backpack so I don’t have to worry about un-plugging the one from under my desk. Since I have an iPhone I packed a sink cable so I could charge it from my laptop if needed.
All in all a good first day.
